Giorgio Armani, a design titan

September 4, 2025

When Lasko Design started making decent money in the mid-80s, I decided to join the ranks of fashion conscious Boomer yuppies and kit myself out in Giorgio Armani suits. It was an expensive undertaking, but I justified it (questionably) as helping me project a more professional image when pitching my business. In terms of actual ROI, it was probably a wash.

But for the next decade and a half or so, it was fun putting some effort into my business appearance and learning the ins-and-outs of apparel design, fabric, and suit construction. And yes, I’ll confess to a bit of bullshit snob appeal as well.

Those days are now gone, and so, sadly, is the great fashion titan Giorgio Armani. RIP, sir — I always felt terrific in your clothes.
