Government supported religious proselytizing

July 30, 2025

Just saw this yesterday.

How well do you think the religious proselytizing will go over with the Trump administration (and MAGA enthusiasts in general) when Muslim federal employees “encourage co-workers to adopt their faith” or “[attempt] to persuade others of the correctness of their own religious view”?

This memo is nothing other than a Christian nationalist provocation. It has the greasy thumbprint of Russell Vought and Project 2025 all over it.

My personal contempt for religion aside, when it comes to other’s perspective on faith and god, I agree with Tom Petty: “You believe what you want to believe.” I also agree and identify with George Will’s personal characterization of being a “low-voltage atheist.” But religion in government? God spare us. This is stupid and should be illegal.
