Larry Campbell and Teressa Williams are brilliant

June 22, 2025
Do yourself a favor and never pass up the opportunity to see Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams perform — if you love great music, you’ll thank me.
Elizabeth and I saw them (along with terrific bassist/vocalist Brandon Morrison) last night in a packed-house show at Jammin' Java. They were, as always, sensational. Country and blues chestnuts; originals; songs by the Band, the Louvins, George Jones, and William Bell; a fiddle/bass/mandolin instrumental; Duke Ellington’s “Caravan”; a cappella Grateful Dead... it was the vast scope of Americana brilliantly condensed in a single concert. And their performance was as outstanding as their material. Larry is an incredibly inventive and soulful guitarist. His harmony vocals with Teresa were gorgeous, as were their individual solos.
With so much talent on stage, a show like this is, truthfully, as close to a religious experience as I get these days.
